FIRE FIGHTING PLAN
INTRODUCTION
We are all aware that our factories are labour intensive, engaged in manufacturing and exporting
of garments. We are using raw materials like fabric and cartons for manufacturing and packing,
which are highly flammable. As such we should essentially take safety precautions to guard against
fire hazard in our factory. Therefore we have formulated an extensive plan to tackle such kind of
eventualities (if occurs), which is enumerated below.
SCOPE
The Scope of this plan covers the laying down the practical drills, providing first aid, evacuation from
our factory floors in case of actual fire. Fire Fighting Team, First Aid Team, Fire Evacuation/Salvage
Team should attend in a meeting at least once in a Quarter with the Fire Fighting Committee and
respective teams would perform their duties at the time of actual outbreak of fire as furnished below.

FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURE
In case of out break of fire, the following procedure and fire fighting drills will be
carried out.
a) DURING
WORKING HOURS:
I. Any one who detects the fire or smoke he /she should immediately inform the Fire
Fighting Committee or any other responsible officer over telephone or personally.
II. Fire Fighting Committee would in turn inform the maintenance department
or personnel department for immediate action and they are also responsible to
inform the Fire Services at different places and arrange for the Ambulance service.
III. On getting the information the Concerned officer will order for activating the fire alarm
bell both electric and manual and rush to the spot and the different groups on hearing the
fire alarm bell will start their respective fire drills as practiced at different times earlier.
IV. On hearing the fire alarm bell all worker will gather outside the factory area as per
instruction of Evacuation/Salvage Team and the Section /Department heads will take
the attendance and report to the personnel department as per the days attendance strength.
This will enable the personnel department to find out whether any one is inside the factory
awaiting to be rescued.
V. Engineer Md. Saiful Islam / Electrician Ripon will ensure whether emergency bells are
ringing or not and will inform all worker of exact location of fire by public address system
through observing the Fire Control Panel. Fire Fighting Team will run towards the
location of fire on hearing the occurrence and engaged themselves to extinguish the fire.
b)
AFTER WORKING HOURS
Any one who detects the fire should inform the Security Supervisor or Security In-charge on
the moment, who will immediately activate the Fire Alarm Bell and send all security to extinguish
the fire. If necessary, he would inform the fire brigades at various places. Then he would inform
immediately the Director, Fire Fighting Committee about the exact situation of the fire and
he can also request them to visit the factory. If necessary the security Officer will open the factory
by cutting the locks by the lock cutter.

FIRE FIGHTING TEAMS
1. FIRE FIGHTING TEAM:
On hearing the fire alarm Fire Fighting Team will find out the exact location of the fire through
public address system / Personnel Department and go to the fire area with necessary fire fighting
equipments and try to extinguish the fire immediately. Nominated team members will activate the
water hose pipe with the help of the other colleagues and try to extinguish the fire. If the situation of fire
is beyond control than team members would must inform the Fire Fighting Committee immediately.
Observing the situation the Fire Fighting Committee will take necessary action.
2. FIRE
EVACUTION/ SALVAGE TEAM
All workers on hearing fire alarm bells, according to the evacuation plan and drill practiced
earlier and under the guide line of Fire Evacuation/Salvage Team, will evacuate the floors steadily
and gently, than would gather outside of the factory. Every one should be and must be disciplined
and avoid fear, panic and stay cool. As per instruction of Evacuation/Salvage Team every
section /department In-charge would take the roll call of his section /department and submit report
to the Personnel department immediately and they would also ensure that no worker or employee is
inside the factory. If any one injured due to the fire, Salvage Team will take necessary steps to
rescue the
victim.
3. FIRST
AID TEAM
They will be located as per plan and evacuate the fire victims by using stretcher and
provide the first aid. If necessary ambulance or with the help of the available
vehicles they would immediately send the fire victims to the hospital/nursing home.
4. CORDON TEAM
Members of Cordon Team (Security Guards) will ensure necessary measures and cordoned the
whole area so that outsiders or any insiders can’t involve in any kind of unfair means.

CONCLUSION
We all should know our teams and our duties very well so that we can meaningfully fight
the fire with optimum speed and without fear and handle the workers effectively.
We should always remember that FEAR IS DANGEROUS THAN FIRE.
